About Us
Johnson’s Acupuncture has been helping patients in San Francisco for more than 30 years. We are a multi-practitioner team that specializes in sports medicine (both acute and chronic pain), internal medicine, facial rejuvenation, and Chinese herbal medicine. We pride ourselves on precise clinical treatments through a combination of acupuncture and other Traditional Chinese Medicine modalities.
Our clinic offers the combined clinical experience of Dr. Johnson You, L.Ac., Ph.D. and Dr. Karen You, L.Ac., DAOM, second- and third-generation acupuncturists, and the unique knowledge from each of our practitioners.
The You family has a longstanding history in the acupuncture profession in California, having worked closely alongside Governor Jerry Brown to establish acupuncture as a legally recognized and board regulated medical profession for the first time in state history in 1976.

Our Team
Dr. Karen You, L.Ac., MSTCM, DAOM
Owner
Third-generation acupuncturist and daughter of Dr. Johnson You, Dr. Karen You, L.Ac, DAOM has a Doctorate of Acupuncture degree from Five Branches University and a Master's of Science from American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Dr. Karen You is experienced in treating both neuromuscular conditions and internal medicine conditions. She has extensive knowledge in Chinese herbal therapy and specializes in trigger point needling for myofascial release of muscles. Dr. You is also skilled in cosmetic facial acupuncture.

Dr. Connie Ly, L.Ac., DACM
Dr. Connie Ly, L.Ac., graduated with her Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine (DACM) degree from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco, CA. She is following her grandfather’s footsteps of practicing Chinese Medicine; he was a Chinese herbalist in Southern China prior to moving to America in the 1980s.
Dr. Connie Ly's training includes orthopedic acupuncture, trigger point therapy, Chinese herbology, and Mei Zen style facial acupuncture rejuvenation.
Dr. Lin Dan Zhu, ND, MSAOM, L.Ac.
Jun Mee Im completed her studies of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine at University of East West Medicine and Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Science. She is passionate about preventive medicine, holistic health, stress reduction, lifestyle improvement, and patient education.
Jun Mee Im has had the opportunity to learn from top practitioners in South Korea and specializes in the fields of facial skin rejuvenation, hair rejuvenation, headache, and women’s health after extensive clinical work. She is also experienced in treating gastrointestinal conditions, insomnia, stress, anxiety, and orthopedic issues.
Dr. Lin Dan Zhu, ND, L.Ac., has a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine and a Master of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Bastyr University in Seattle, WA.
Dr. Lin Dan Zhu is experienced in orthopedic and internal medicine conditions. Her focus is on pain and stress management, mental health, digestive disorders, and women's health. Dr. Zhu is also trained in Chinese herbal therapy and specializes in Chinese nutritional therapy.
Dr. Johnson You, L.Ac., Ph.D., (now retired) is the original clinic founder. He is a master acupuncturist and herbalist with over 45 years of experience since 1977. He has served the San Francisco community at the current Inner Richmond location since 1988 and has worked with Dr. Karen You, daughter and current clinic owner, to pass down the lineage of Traditional Chinese Medicine knowledge and skills to all practitioners at the clinic.

We are out-of-network with Aetna, Blue Shield, and Blue Cross but can provide you a superbill to submit to your insurance for reimbursement.
